THE TREE OF LIFE COLLECTION
Five Guardians • Five Virtues • Five Elements • One Unknown
For more than two years, The Tree of Life project carried Mr Ali Attar across Asia in search of extraordinary living monuments—ancient trees that had survived centuries of storms, conflict, human change, and time.
What began as a search for remarkable trees became something greater. Each guardian revealed a different lesson: wisdom, courage, protection, endurance, and memory.
Together, they became The Tree of Life Collection.
This collection was never conceived as five individual perfumes. It is one journey told through five guardians, created to be experienced and enjoyed in its totality—not merely as individual oils.
Most people will recognize themselves in one guardian. Some will be drawn toward wisdom. Others toward courage, protection, endurance, or memory. Yet the complete journey reveals something deeper: we are rarely only one of these things. At different moments in life, we become all five.
THE DRAGON — WISDOM • HEAVEN
Inspired by a 100-year-old Bonsai Dragon at Meiji Jingu Shrine in Tokyo, The Dragon represents patience, stillness, and wisdom shaped by time. Its twisting form resembles a dragon frozen in motion and became the beginning of the Tree of Life journey.
The fragrance imagines a hidden Japanese garden immediately after rainfall: wet earth beneath cool air, lotus floating across still ponds, white roses covered in droplets, moss-covered stone, temple clay, and vivid green grass awakening beneath a clearing sky.
Created entirely from rare natural materials with no synthetic fillers, The Dragon was developed without compromise in cost, time, effort, or experimentation.
Top: Rainfall accord, fresh green grass, white rose petals, bonsai tree.
Heart: Pink lotus, blue lotus, white florals, tulip, orris.
Base: Wet earth, mineral stone, temple clay, rain-soaked grass.
Emotional Impression: Wisdom • Clarity • Inner Peace
THE WARRIOR — COURAGE • FIRE
Inspired by a resilient 400-year-old Camphor Tree at Namba Shrine in Osaka, The Warrior embodies survival, discipline, and courage. The tree has endured centuries of change and is connected in local tradition to the samurai legacy of Sanada Yukimura.
Dark coffee, cocoa, coriander, and chocolate open the composition before temple incense, smoked bamboo, charred woods, urushi lacquer, aged leather, vetiver, and a trace of gunpowder reveal its darker architecture.
Inspired by Bushido, The Warrior presents courage not as aggression, but as mastery: remaining calm, focused, and unwavering when challenged. It does not seek attention. It commands respect.
Top: Dark coffee, coriander, cocoa, cedarwood.
Heart: Dark chocolate, temple incense, smoked bamboo.
Base: Vetiver, urushi lacquer, aged leather, gunpowder accord.
Emotional Impression: Courage • Confidence • Mastery
THE GUARDIAN — PROTECTION • EARTH
Inspired by a rare Aquilaria tree estimated at more than 200 years old near Wat Bang Kradan Temple in Cambodia, The Guardian represents preservation, trust, and protection.
The tree has become legendary among collectors, yet its deeper significance lies in generations who chose preservation over profit. Its aromatic character recalls the extraordinary depth associated with Kyara and Kynam.
Sweet benzoin and warm resins rest over cedarwood, creamy sandalwood, guaiac wood, amber, and ho wood, while Japanese lotus and red rose bring restrained floral light.
The Guardian is the scent of shelter—the feeling of standing beneath something ancient enough to make you believe that, for this moment, nothing can reach you.
It does not command attention. It commands trust.
Top: Sweet benzoin, soft resin, red rose.
Heart: Japanese lotus, aromatic cedarwood, creamy sandalwood.
Base: Guaiac wood, warm amber, ho wood.
Emotional Impression: Protection • Trust • Comfort
THE IMMORTAL — ENDURANCE • WATER
Inspired by a 700-year-old Banyan giant in Bali, The Immortal was born from both ancient nature and a deeply personal experience.
During the journey, Mr Ali Attar became seriously ill from mercury poisoning and was rushed to a hospital. Soon after recovering, standing beneath a tree that had survived seven centuries changed the scale of hardship itself. Human difficulties suddenly seemed small beside such endurance.
The fragrance challenges assumptions about natural perfumery. Raw ambergris, precious natural musk, and Cambodian Koh Kong oud—materials notoriously difficult to balance together—are layered with triple-distilled vanilla, Baltic amber, resins, golden honey, and caramel.
It continuously evolves on the skin: ocean and forest, sweetness and depth, warmth and mystery. A composition built upon patience and the refusal to accept limitations.
Top: Raw ambergris, triple-distilled vanilla, oceanic mineral facets.
Heart: Caramel, natural musk, honey.
Base: Cambodian Koh Kong oud, Baltic amber, resins.
Emotional Impression: Endurance • Perseverance • Longevity
THE MYSTIC — MEMORY • SPIRIT
Inspired by a giant scented Millennium Tree estimated at more than 500 years old on Gili Island, The Mystic is perhaps the most mysterious of the five guardians.
Its scent seemed inseparable from the island itself—the air, soil, ocean breeze, and passing centuries.
First-cut rose flows into magnolia, jasmine, tuberose, iris, neroli, sandalwood, nectar, and petals so seamlessly that individual flowers seem to disappear into one another. Each drop contains the concentrated aromatic yield of approximately 30 roses or more.
The fragrance deliberately changes upon the skin, creating the sensation of remembering something you have never experienced before—as though somewhere, somehow, you have encountered it already.
It belongs neither to masculine nor feminine, day nor night, summer nor winter. Those belong to the physical world. The Mystic belongs to memory.
Top: First-cut rose, magnolia, jasmine.
Heart: Tuberose, iris, white florals.
Base: Nectar, petal accord, sandalwood, neroli.
Emotional Impression: Remembrance • Transcendence • Awakening
AND THEN THERE WAS A SIXTH.
The journey created five guardians. But it also left behind something never intended for a conventional release.
TREE OF LIFE VI
THE UNKNOWN — THE SIXTH ELEMENT
Extremely Limited Batch • 99 Bottles Worldwide
Across Asia, we acquired exceptionally rare botanicals and aromatic materials in quantities far too small to support a traditional perfume production.
From those materials, one final oil was created.
The Unknown.
Its complete formula will not be published. Its full note structure will not be disclosed. Rather than explaining every material within it, we chose to allow this oil to remain what its name suggests: something to be discovered through experience rather than fully understood before it is encountered.
It is not available for individual purchase. It will never appear as a separately purchasable fragrance, cannot be ordered afterward, and will not be available anywhere else.
Only 99 individually numbered bottles worldwide will exist, reserved exclusively for collectors who acquire the complete Tree of Life Collection while the original allocation remains.
The allocation is strictly divided by size:
50 bottles — 3 mL
30 bottles — 6 mL
19 bottles — 12 mL
Each bottle of The Unknown will correspond exactly to the size of the complete collection selected:
3 mL Collection → 3 mL The Unknown
6 mL Collection → 6 mL The Unknown
12 mL Collection → 12 mL The Unknown
Once the allocation for a particular size is exhausted, The Unknown will no longer be available with that size of the collection.
Gram for gram, the material cost of this oil equals or exceeds the value of the complete Tree of Life Collection itself.Yet we chose not to place a price upon it.
Instead, each of the 99 bottles is attached complimentarily to a complete collection as an expression of gratitude to the collectors, connoisseurs, and creators whose support allows The House of The Perfumist to continue pursuing materials, journeys, and creations beyond conventional perfumery.
Each of these 99 allocations will also include an individually numbered, handwritten Collector Certification from Mr Ali Attar, corresponding to its bottle and documenting its place within the original Tree of Life allocation.
There will be 99 bottles worldwide. No second allocation is planned.
Once the final bottle within each size has been allocated, that opportunity closes. And once Bottle No. 99 has found its collector, The Unknown disappears with it.
Not discontinued. Not temporarily unavailable. Simply complete.
Five guardians taught us Wisdom. Courage. Protection. Endurance. Memory.
Perhaps the sixth represents what remains beyond all five: The Unknown.
The Tree of Life was created as one journey and is meant to be experienced in its entirety.
For these 99 collectors, that journey contains a chapter future collectors may know existed, but may never be able to acquire.
Because there comes a point when rarity is no longer a question of price. There comes a point when money can no longer obtain what was once available.
